Meet the Band
Evyn Cameron
Born and raised in New Jersey, Evyn’s love for creativity started while creating her own “perfumes” from her mother’s collection of essential oils as a child. Her mom, a professional perfumer, and her dad, an avid wine collector, always shared their love of wine at the dinner table. From these experiences, Evyn’s passion became food & wine and she graduated from Boston University’s School of Hospitality. She was then recruited by the Thomas Keller Restaurant Group and began working at Per Se, in Manhattan, where she was able to meet winemakers from all over the world. It was there she realized her passion and desire was to become a winemaker.
Soon thereafter, Evyn moved to Napa, the mecca of North American winemaking, and quickly started her career at White Rock Vineyards. From there, she honed her skills at Saintsbury Winery, Seavey Winery and internationally in New Zealand’s Central Otago region to work at Carrick Winery. Upon returning to Napa, she was welcomed at Cliff Lede Vineyards and became the Enologist for the next 4 years, working with some of the best fruit grown in Napa Valley. In 2015, Evyn then became the assistant winemaker at Anaba Wines where she focused primarily on Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Rhone varieties. After three years, Evyn longed to return to the heart of Napa and joined Crocker & Starr Wines as Head Winemaker. There, Evyn oversaw all winemaking as well as managing the 100-acre organic estate vineyard and implementing climate action and green initiatives.
In May 2022, Evyn decided to focus on her winemaking consulting business, creation of her personal wine brand, and joining the Napa Green board. In 2024, Evyn was featured as one of the next winemakers to watch by Virginie Boone.
When Evyn’s not at the winery, you can find her chasing her two kids around the backyard, playing with her furry companion, Pepper, or hopefully traveling with her wife, Cari.
Britt Richards
Britt (Nichols) Richards has always had her sights set on winemaking. After graduating from CSU Fresno in 2007, she made her way to Napa to do an internship at Chappellet Winery where she met her now husband Ry Richards. From there, she did stints at Jordan Winery and Keller Estate before settling down at Peter Michael Winery.
After several years, Britt decided to expand her winemaking knowledge, working at St. Clement, Ledson Winery, and with acclaimed consulting winemaker Philippe Melka. She rejoined forces with Phillip Titus in 2014 to work on Coho for several years.
Britt takes a minimalist approach to winemaking. "It’s so exciting for me to make wines from myriad California terroirs," Britt says. These vineyards and fruit couldn’t be more distinct. In general I have a firm belief in the purity of the wines, and enhancing what is already there, which allows the fruit to shine."
Des Echavarrie
Desmond “Des” Echavarrie founded Scale Wine Group in 2016 with a vision to represent a portfolio of dynamic family-owned wine brands on a national scale. Des and his team are responsible for the promotion and wholesale sales of over 25 boutique wine brands including Band of Vintners.
Scale Wine Group has been the exclusive sales agent for Band of Vintners since 2017 and Des has always had a close connection to the Band since its inception in 2014. When Scale had the opportunity to acquire the wine brand in 2023 it made perfect sense to Des who always wanted to join the Band.
Earlier in his career Des served as a sommelier at Thomas Keller’s The French Laundry in Yountville, Calif. During his tenure at the restaurant, he achieved the title of Master Sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2012.
One of the most exciting roles presented itself in 2018 when Des became the consulting Master Sommelier for American Airlines. Helping the world’s largest airline source wines for the airplanes and lounges called on Des’s decades of experience and knowledge of the world of wine.
While his duties at Scale have grown with the company, making time to taste the great wines of the world and continue his education will always be a top priority.
